I’m writing this preface in tandem with the highlights of my recent trip to Morocco because I don’t want social media to portray a black and white picture of me living my best life.

I tried meeting with Rachel on several occasions to speak about her role at City Year NY but the time it took us to play catch up on our lives (leading to a lot of side eye from customers just tryna quietly sip their tea and get some work done at Qathra Cafe in Ditmas) did not permit us to properly speak about her career.

It took me a long time to scratch the surface of my own human psyche. I still haven’t yet fully learned what I do subconsciously for others or what I do consciously for myself. Even though I’ve yet to determine those contrasting variables, I can see with clarity that for the most part, I know myself.

I started my first job out of college this week. It’s not the job I thought I’d have last week or the week before. It’s not the role I’d been working towards or dreamed of the last few years.
