Don't Take it To Heart

Handed you my heart

On a silver platter

Spoon fed you, really.

You took two bites

Cut it open

Left the knife in place

To let it bleed.

Decided the meal

Was not what you wanted

Anymore.

It didn't taste good

An ingredient was missing

So you spit it out

To go find something else

Someone else's heart

In the kitchen cabinet

That tasted better

---------------------

Harboring old feelings

For old muses

Trying to make more room

In my heart

For new people

who have more feelings

In their heart

To give
